“Our goal with this investigation is to illuminate the specific mechanisms by which corrupt influence is carried out in the courts: what happens in the kitchen of specialized justice. This is extremely important because there are huge expectations of the specialized justice system. You remember the task for which it was originally set up, how its powers were gradually increased. And as one of the main characters in The Eight Dwarfs said, ‘with Lyubena Petrova’ – Pepi Euro’s wife – ‘we entered the Specialised Court like a church – with the doors wide open’. A lot of people go there as if they were at home and feel at home.
