Za istinata: Former Deputy Health Minister Opens New Hospital Despite Lack of Approval from National Health Insurance Fund

The Council of Ministers has given its approval for the opening of a new private hospital in Gabrovo, whose activities will be funded by the National Health Insurance Fund. The Fund, however, has not granted its approval for the new facility, claiming that with five already-existing hospitals, the region does not need a new one. The new hospital will be opened, following the Council’s decision, despite the fact that when asked to present more information about the facility, the Council of Ministers said it did not have it.

The owners of the new private hospital include Hristo Mazneikov, a Sofia-based orthopedist, and Mihail Zortev, deputy health minister in the first government of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, who is currently on trial for malfeasance.
