Nikolay Staykov: The Prosecutor's Office, SANS and CAFIAP act as a Bermuda Triangle

Nikolay Staykov, ACF:

In the triangle of power of the institutions that are supposed to fight corruption – the Prosecutor’s Office, the State Agency for National Security, and the Anti-Corruption Commission (CAFIAP), they are passing the ball to each other, just not to publish the information about politicians and magistrates with undeclared accounts and properties abroad.

These three institutions act like a real Bermuda Triangle. We still do not know, for example, why the names of certain people who are obliged to disclose their assets abroad are secret and have not done so.

The Prosecutor’s Office, the SANS and the CAFIAP are three institutions that have been almost intact since before the last ruling coalition. For the Prosecutor’s Office it is clear – there is no change there. However, the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission – the second top – could have been changed. At the moment, it is headed by its former deputy chairman, and nothing is happening there.

A procedure for a new chairman of the SANS could also have been triggered. That did not happen either.
