Joanna Rohozinska

Member of the Board

Joanna Rohozinska currently serves as the Regional Director for Europe and Eurasia with IREX. She has been engaged in civil society programs in the post-Communist space for over 20 years, living and working in several countries in the region, often in challenging environments.

Concurrently to her position Joanna is on the expert Advisory Group of the Carnegie Endowment’s Partnership for Countering Influence Operations (PCIO) project.

She began her career in the region with Freedom House’s Budapest office and has worked with local organisations, iNGOs and donors. Immediately prior to joining IREX she served as Resident Program Director for Europe based in Brussels. Joanna’s experience also includes over a decade with the National Endowment for Democracy’s Europe division where she covered East Central Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Joanna has often been consulted as a regional expert, publishing articles and speaking on conference panels, podcasts and television. She holds a graduate degree in Russian and European history from the University of Toronto. She is fluent in English, Polish, French and Russian and functional in Belarusian and Ukrainian.
