Hera Jay Brown

Visiting scholar

Hera Jay Brown is a 2019-2020 Fulbright-Schuman Student Researcher to Malta, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Belgium and will spend the academic year investigating the class-based distinctions of naturalization processes and bureaucracies across the European Union. Hera Jay’s Fulbright work centers on citizenship-by-investment schemes, the citizenship-by-performance nexus for refugees, and the ways that capital/class engender different naturalization pathways and one’s role in the public commons. Recently, Hera Jay was named a 2020 Rhodes Scholar and looks forward to taking her work on Europe and citizenship to graduate studies at the University of Oxford.
