The Forum included panel discussions on the accountability of institutions and the rule of law, the transparency of beneficial owners, the fight against illicit financial flows, public procurement systems, and private partnerships.

Lora Georgieva participated in the panel Civil Society: Partnering with Civil Society Organizations to Enhance Governance and Combat Corruption

The panelists agreed that effective counteraction of corruption requires a joint effort by state institutions such as the prosecutor’s office, police, and anti-corruption commissions on the one hand, and civil society organizations on the other.

The Forum featured a keynote address by Daron Acemoglu, Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and 2024 Nobel Laureate, who stated, “Democracy cannot survive if a country suffers endemic corruption and the society accepts it..”
