Otzvuk Online: Smolyan Deputy Mayor Fails to Declare Properties
Marin Zahariev, Deputy Mayor of the town of Smolyan and ruling party candidate in the elections for European Parliament, has failed to declare to the Anti-Corruption Commission the fact that he lives in an apartment and uses additional spaces, owned by a private company – K Z Project.
In his asset declaration, filed on 08.06.2018, the deputy mayor has mentioned he has nothing to declare. It is publicly-known that the mayor and his wife have been living for years in a downtown apartment. Senior public officials are legally required to declare any property owned by other parties and valued BGN 10,000 and above, which they have been using for a period longer than three months of any calendar year.
